Server Settings

Set your server's hostname, IP addresses, DNS resolvers, timezone and log retention.

Where to find it: Server > Configuration > Server Settings.

Available to: Root only.

What this page does

Each group is saved separately. A hostname change is different from changing a customer domain, and a resolver change controls this server’s own DNS lookups rather than the authoritative zones hosted for customers.

Before you start

Keep an SSH session open before changing network-related values. Confirm the intended interface and IP ownership with the hosting provider; adding an address to SHM does not allocate it on the provider network.

Settings and their scope

GroupWhat you controlWhat to check
HostnameThe server’s fully qualified hostname.Use a hostname that resolves to the intended server and verify services that advertise it.
IP addressesAddress or supported range, network prefix/netmask, and interface; main-IP selection and deletion.Use an existing interface. Do not delete an address still serving accounts or your management connection.
DNS resolverOptional search domain and up to four recursive nameservers.Use reachable resolvers; this is separate from default customer NS records.
TimezoneThe host timezone used by schedules and displayed server time.Review scheduled work after changing it.
JournaldStorage limit in GB and retention in days.Retain enough evidence for support while monitoring disk usage.
Audit logsAudit log retention in days.Choose retention for investigation needs and verify it independently from journald.

How to use it

  1. Read the current values in the relevant group.
  2. Change only the required group and use its save/update button.
  3. Reload the page and verify hostname, DNS resolution, address connectivity, time, or retained logs as appropriate.

Result and next check

The saved value remains visible after reload and the affected service still works. Customer DNS zones and website settings are managed on their own pages.
