Open a command-line session on the server as its administrator.

Where to find it: Open the Server menu and choose Terminal.

Available to: Root only.

Before you start

Terminal access bypasses many form-level safeguards. Use the narrowest command that solves the problem, keep a recovery path, and do not turn an account task into an accidental server task.

Why use it — and when not to

Use Terminal for the resource described on this page. Choose a narrower account or reseller page whenever the task does not need server-wide authority.

How to use it

1. Open Terminal and confirm you are working on the intended server.
2. Enter only commands whose effect you understand.
3. Read the output and check the affected service before closing the session.

Reconnect and restart session

Reconnect attempts to restore the terminal connection; Restart session requests a new interactive session. Check the current role/account before entering commands. Shell access and Jail Shell policy still apply to account sessions.

An interrupted browser connection does not prove a command stopped. Check the process or job state before repeating a destructive or long-running command. The AI assistant cannot open an interactive terminal session for you.
