Email Autoresponders
Email Autoresponders sends a controlled automatic reply from an existing mailbox, with optional scheduling, reply intervals, plain-text or HTML content, reusable templates, and safe message variables.
Where to find it: Open the account, choose Email Accounts, then open Email Autoresponders.
Available to: The account user for their own account, plus root or the owning reseller when working inside that account. The item may be hidden when its feature profile or required service is disabled.
What this page does
Use it for out-of-office notices, support acknowledgements, temporary service messages, and other predictable replies. It does not forward the original message or replace a help-desk workflow.
Before you start
Create and test the mailbox first. Choose a reply interval that prevents loops, check the start and end timezone, and avoid sensitive data in the body. Automatic replies to automated senders can become two robots corresponding enthusiastically forever; SHM's interval helps, but sensible copy helps too.
Settings
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Mailbox and enabled state | The owned address that sends replies and whether the rule is active. |
| From address and subject | The sender identity and subject recipients see. |
| Reply interval | How long SHM waits before replying again to the same sender. |
| Start and end | Optional schedule for temporary responses. |
| Plain text / HTML and charset | Message format and character encoding. |
| Templates and variables | Reusable starting copy plus supported sender, recipient, subject, date, and custom values shown by the page. |
Preview
Use the preview to confirm subject, substitutions, plain-text layout, or sandboxed HTML output before saving. Preview checks presentation; a real external delivery test checks mail routing and spam handling.
How to use it
- Choose the mailbox and create a new autoresponder.
- Select a template or write the subject and body.
- Insert only variables listed by the page and define any supported custom variables.
- Set format, charset, interval, schedule, and enabled state.
- Preview, save, then send one external test message.
- Check the reply and Mail Delivery Reports.
Result and next check
During the active schedule, eligible messages receive the configured reply no more often than the selected interval. The original message continues through its normal mailbox delivery path.
