DNS Server

DNS Server is an advanced PowerDNS settings reference; day-to-day zone work belongs in DNS Manager and installation belongs in Services.

Where to find it: Sign in as root, open Server > Configuration, then choose DNS Server.

Available to: Root only.

What this page does

Use DNS Server to review and manage the corresponding server-wide policy. The page shows the supported values and applies them through SHM's normal validation and runtime workflow.

Before you start

A correct record in SHM does not change registrar delegation, and public DNS may remain cached until its TTL expires. Confirm who is authoritative for the zone before editing it.

Why use it — and when not to

Use DNS Server for zones or records that SHM is authorized to manage. Do not use it to assume registrar delegation or a third-party authoritative zone changed automatically.

How to use it

1. Open DNS Server in the correct role and confirm the selected target.
2. Review the current values before editing them.
