Firewall Configuration

Adjust the firewall's connection rules, notifications and automatic protection.

Where to find it: Sign in as root, open Server > Firewall, then choose Firewall Configuration.

Available to: Root only.

Before you start

Security settings can also block legitimate visitors. Start with a narrow rule or monitoring mode where available, then check that normal access still works.

Why use it — and when not to

Use Firewall Configuration to reduce a specific, evidenced risk. Avoid broad blocks, global disables, or permanent exceptions when a monitor mode or narrower rule can solve the same problem.

How to use it

  1. Find the setting for the connection or protection you want to change.
  2. Keep a working administrator session while changing access settings.
  3. Save and apply as required, then test the affected connection.

Additive/exact application and alert delivery

Additive application is the recommended mode shown by the UI; Exact is the strict mode. Review the managed zone, denied-traffic logging, write-permanent-rules choice, and update-live-rules choice before applying a policy.

Intrusion-monitor notifications separately select enablement, local sendmail or SMTP transport, recipient/sender, and SMTP host/port/user/password/TLS where needed. Saving an address is not proof of delivered alerts; review actual notification-delivery evidence after an intended monitor event.
