Local Mail Backups

Find backed-up email files and folders for your account.

Where to find it: Open the account, choose Backup or Remote Backup as shown in the account menu, then select Local Mail Backups.

Available to: The account owner, their reseller or the server administrator. Availability depends on the hosting plan and installed services.

Before you start

Restoring a backup can overwrite newer data. Check the backup date, choose what to restore and make sure there is enough free disk space before starting.

Why use it — and when not to

Use Local Mail Backups to create, find, inspect, or recover the documented backup scope. Do not start a restore until the point, target, replacement behavior, and customer approval are clear.

How to use it

  1. Choose the backup date and mailbox files you need.
  2. Decide whether to restore to the original location or inspect a separate copy.
  3. Follow the restore and check the recovered mail.

Selective restore and progress

For mail, choose the original mail location or an alternative directory for inspection. For MySQL, distinguish restoring SQL files from importing them into a live owned database. Keep the selected backup point and item list visible in your review, then follow the returned job and log to a terminal result.

See Restore mail and MySQL backups. Aborting a job does not roll back completed writes; verify the destination before retrying a partial restore.

Result and next check

Wait for the job to finish and check its final status. After a restore, open the affected website, mailbox or database to confirm it works.
