Podman Manager

Run and manage container-based applications using Podman.

Where to find it: Open the account and choose Podman Manager.

Available to: The account owner, their reseller or the server administrator. Availability depends on the hosting plan and installed services.

How to use it

1. Choose a container or Compose project in your account.
2. Review the settings and the action you want to run.
3. Follow the result and test the application through its assigned website or port.

Compose projects and long-running work

Compose projects have their own configuration, pull, build, up, down, restart, status, and log actions. Long pull/build/account management can continue as an account-bound background operation. Follow its operation status and output to completion before starting the same action again.

Read the actual command output on failure. A Compose tool can print an engine error even when its own exit status is zero; SHM treats recognized operation failures as failed operations. A successful command launch alone does not prove the containers are healthy.

On a containerized host, Podman additionally needs supported rootless user namespaces and host capabilities. Account users may not see Podman when the runtime is unavailable; root and owners can see the reason. Installing an image cannot fix a host that disallows the required namespace mapping.
