Getting Started
Getting Started covers the first successful SDM sign-in and a verified DNS change without skipping the safety checks that matter.

What this page does
Use this as the first-day checklist after SDM is installed. It separates observation from mutation: confirm identity, role, deployment, delegation, and backups before making one small DNS change and verifying it.
Before you start
Complete Installation first and confirm that Dashboard and License load. Then prepare the expected deployment model, one authorized test zone, and registrar or parent-DNS access for any later delegation or DNSSEC change.
First-session checklist
- Sign in and, if prompted, complete the six-digit 2FA step.
- Open Security and enable 2FA for your account; store recovery information according to your organization policy.
- Open Dashboard and note whether the server is standalone or part of a cluster.
- Root: review Backup and Restore, Monitor, License, and Version and Updates before customer work.
- Find a permitted zone, read its records, and compare its nameservers with public delegation.
- Make a low-risk test record change, then query an authoritative server and a public resolver.
How to use it
- Use the sidebar search or header search to open DNS Zones.
- Select the zone and read its owner, provider, record count, and last update.
- Open Edit, add or adjust the approved record, and save.
- Refresh the zone, check the audit event, and confirm the result with DNS lookup tooling.
- Remove a temporary test record when the validation plan calls for it.
