Profile Settings

The Profile Settings page lets you secure your account with 2-Factor Authentication (2FA), keep your contact info up to date, change your password, and choose which backup notifications you want to receive.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

• Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication to open a QR code.
• Scan it with an app like Google Authenticator (or any TOTP app), then enter the 6-digit code to confirm.
• Once enabled, each login requires your password and a time-based code from your app.
• To turn it off, click Disable 2FA (this clears the stored secret). You can then remove the app entry.

Tip: If the QR image won’t load, use the printed secret key below the QR and add it manually in your 2FA app.

Account details

• Full name and Company appear in activity logs and notifications.
• Email is where backup alerts are delivered.
• To change your password, fill in Current password, then set New and Repeat new. Leave password fields blank to keep your current password.
• Duplicate emails are blocked, and current password must be correct before changing it.

Backup notifications (email)

Toggle which events should email you:

• Backup Starting — schedule kicked off.
• Backup Stopped — manually halted or aborted.
• Backup Completed — finished successfully (includes duration).
• Backup Warnings — non-fatal rsync/restore warnings, space soft-issues, etc.
• Backup Errors — fatal errors or exit codes that failed the job.
• Connection Errors — panel ↔ storage/production reachability problems.

Schedule running time alerts — pick one or more thresholds (24/36/48/60/72/84/96h). If any schedule runs longer than a selected threshold, you’ll get an alert while it’s still running.

Requirements: Your user role must have Email notifications permission enabled, and SMTP must be configured in Settings → General (From email, host, port, auth).

What this page does not change

• User role and access to servers are managed by an admin in Users/Roles. • System-wide options (SSL, version tier, auto-updates) live under Settings / Version.

Best practices

• Enable 2FA for all operator accounts.
• Use a dedicated alert mailbox (e.g., backup-alerts@yourdomain) and create mail rules by status (Started/Completed/Error).
• Start with a conservative set of running-time thresholds (e.g., 24h & 48h) and refine based on your longest jobs.

Troubleshooting

• “I don’t get emails.” Check your SMTP settings, role permission Email notifications, and spam folder.
• “2FA code invalid.” Ensure device time is accurate; rescan the QR and enter the latest 6-digit code.
• “Can’t change password.” The current password must be correct and New/Repeat must match.
